Notes: Three types of conceptual change

Citekey: @chi2008

Chi, M. T. H. (2008). Three types of conceptual change: Belief revision, mental model transformation, and categorical shift. In S. Vosniadou (Ed.), Handbook of research on conceptual change (pp. 61–82). Hillsdale, NJ: Erlbaum.

This book chapter systematically introduces Chi’s theory about conceptual change. She thinks misconceptions and conceptual change happen on three grain sizes: false beliefs, flawed mental models, and ontological miscatogerization. Therefore, instructions to promote conceptual change should also be conducted on those three levels.
